Corals are marine animals which exist as
small sea anemone-like polyps, typically in colonies of
many identical individuals. The group includes the
important reef builders that are found in tropical
oceans, which secrete calcium carbonate needed to form a
hard skeleton.
Red shades of coral are used as a gemstone. In vedic
astrology, red coral represents Mars. Pure red coral is
known as fire coral and is very rare because of
the demand for perfect fire coral in jewellery-making.
